General

1. What is Bengaluru Prayana?

Bengaluru Prayana is a local initiative that curates walks around Bangalore to explore its history, architecture, neighbourhoods, and cultural layers. Walks are designed to be immersive and accessible to all who are curious about the city.

2. What types of walks do you offer?

We currently offer:

  • Scheduled Guided Walks (with fixed dates)
  • Private Walks (for custom groups)
  • Self-Guided Walks – PDF Format (available for download)
  • Self-Guided Walks – Audio Format (coming soon)

3. Who conducts these walks?

Even though our hosts and guides are not historians, they are storytellers and locals. These walks are conducted based on independent and thorough research.

4. Do you provide detailed itineraries for the walks?

No, we don’t. The whole fun of heritage walks is to participate in them and be wowed by the places and stories we hear. At the max, we can let you know the number of stops we make.

Scheduled Guided Walks

1. How do I register for a scheduled walk?

Visit our website and check the upcoming walk schedule. You can register directly via the provided link or contact us via WhatsApp if needed.

2. What is the cost of the walks?

Fees vary by walk and are mentioned on the walk page. For example, the Cantonment Walk costs Rs 2,500 (which includes breakfast), while others typically range between Rs 500 and Rs 1,099.

3. Is prior payment required?

Yes. All walks require full advance payment to confirm your spot. We do not accept cash on the day of the walk.

4. What’s included in the walk?

Each walk includes guided storytelling by our hosts, and in some cases, breakfast or light refreshments are also provided. Please refer to the specific walk listing for inclusions.

5. What is the cancellation policy?

Our walks, such as those in Malleshwaram and Gavipuram, have no refund, cancellation, or rescheduling policies. Only book if you are sure of attending.

  • Cantonment Walk: Full refund if cancelled 3 days or more before. No refunds or rescheduling within 3 days.
  • Whitefield Walk: Cancellations are allowed up to 48 hours before the walk; no changes are permitted after that.
  • Cubbon Park / KR Market Walk (by Shyam): Cancellations or changes allowed up to 2 days before; no changes are permitted after that.
  • If we cancel a walk, a full refund or a special rescheduled walk is offered. Refunds are processed within 10 working days.

6. What happens if I am late?

Walks start on time. Please arrive 10–15 minutes before the scheduled start time. If you’re late, we may not be able to accommodate or guide you mid-way.

7. What is the age limit?

Walks are open to participants aged 10 years and above unless specified otherwise. If the children are under 18 years of age, they must be accompanied by their guardian. We take no responsibility for the safety of children.

8. Are the walks physically demanding?

Most walks are easy-paced and within urban neighbourhoods, but they may involve walking for 2–3 hours. Wear comfortable shoes and carry water.

Private Walks

1. Can I book a private walk for my group or organisation?

Yes, we offer customised private walks for groups (minimum group size may apply). These are ideal for schools, corporate teams, friend circles, and families.

2. How do I request a private walk?

Please contact us via email at BengaluruPrayana@gmail.com with your group details, preferred location, and preferred date. We will respond with availability and cost.

3. Can the private walk be tailored to our interests or pace?

Yes, private walks are personalised to suit your group’s interest, pace, and time preference.

Self-Guided Walks (Downloadable PDF)

1. What are self-guided PDF walks?

These are detailed guides in PDF format, complete with mapped routes, historical information, highlights, and recommendations. You can complete the walk at your own pace and on your own schedule.

2. How do I purchase or download a self-guided walk?

Visit our website. Once purchased, the downloadable PDF will be emailed to you within 2-3 business days of purchase. If you do not receive the PDF, please get in touch with BengaluruPrayana@gmail.com.

3. What’s included in the PDF?

  • Route map
  • Key stops and stories
  • Local tips (where to eat, nearby attractions)
  • Photos and historical context

4. Can I share the PDF with others?

No. These are for individual use only. Please do not redistribute. It helps us sustain the work we do.

5. What is the cancellation/refund policy for PDFs?

Due to the digital nature of our self-guided walk PDFs, we do not offer cancellations or refunds.

Self-Guided Walks (Audio – Coming Soon)

1. What are audio-guided walks?

These are immersive walks where you plug in your earphones and walk along a route while listening to curated stories at each stop. Launching soon.

2. Will I need an app to use them?

We are working on a simple, web-based or app-based solution. More details will be shared on launch.

3. Can I preview an audio walk?

Yes. A free sample clip and trial route will be made available when the audio guides go live.

Payments and Refunds

1. What payment modes do you accept?

We accept UPI, Google Pay, PhonePe, and bank transfers.

2. Will I get a receipt?

Yes. A confirmation message or email will be sent after payment.

3. How do I request a refund if eligible?

Please contact us via WhatsApp or email (BengaluruPrayana@gmail.com) with your registration details. Refunds will be processed within 10 working days if it meets the cancellation policy.
