About CTR Bangalore

Shri Sagar Hotel, also recognized as Central Tiffin Room (CTR), is a heritage restaurant in the historic Malleshwaram precinct in Bangalore. Renowned for its delectable Masala Doses, this eatery holds a special place not only in the hearts of locals but also in the preferences of celebrities like Deepika Padukone and Virat Kohli. Established in the 1920s by Y. V. Subramanyam and his brothers, hailing from the Tamil Nadu village of Yelagondahalli in Kolar district, CTR Bangalore carries a rich history. Unfortunately, family circumstances led to its sale in the 1950s to the subsequent owner, Raghavendra. Management changed in 1952 and later in 1992 when Sanjeeva S Poojari acquired the establishment, renaming it Shri Sagar.

The eatery’s roots include a memorable episode when Y. V. Subramanyam, during a visit by the Maharaja of Mysore, served an authentic breakfast in traditional attire. Notably, the youngest brother, Y. V. Ramachandra, was a Freedom fighter.
