Cubbon Park: A Green Heaven

Cubbon Park in Bangalore is a haven for pet owners, providing a space to savour the freedom to explore with their furry companions. A notable development within the park is the emergence of pet clubs, fostering a community of like-minded individuals and their pets. These clubs organize delightful gatherings and invigorating exercise sessions within the lush confines of Cubbon Park.

The park’s expansive greenery and pet-friendly atmosphere create an ideal setting for pets and their owners to unwind and engage in recreational activities. It serves as a welcoming escape in a city with limited pet-friendly spaces. These organized pet meet-ups offer a platform for socialization and contribute to the well-being of both pets and their owners. With its open spaces and vibrant community spirit, Cubbon Park is a testament to the growing appreciation for pet-friendly environments in Bangalore, providing a delightful haven for shared adventures and cherished moments.

Exploring the Hidden Lakes of Bangalore

Bangalore, often hailed as the City of Lakes, boasts numerous water bodies, each with unique charm. A hidden gem near Hosakote stands out: a lake, unfortunately, without a name. Unlike its commercialized counterparts, this lake retains an authentic village ambience, making it an ideal retreat for furry companions.

A friendly reminder: Always keep your pet on a leash and only release it when deemed safe and in compliance with leash regulations.

This unnamed lake marked his inaugural outing for Willie, and it was a memorable experience. Intrigued by buffaloes leisurely bathing in the lake, he seemed to relish every moment. The crooked walls resembling ruins added an extra element of adventure, transforming the lakeside into a playground and exercise spot for Willie.

Bagaluru Lake: A Tranquil Retreat

Nestled near the Bangalore airport, Bagaluru Lake beckons as a serene destination to explore with your pet. The approximately 25-kilometre distance from Bangalore city can be covered in about an hour’s drive.

A gentle reminder: Ensure your pet is well-trained to preserve the natural surroundings. Be responsible and clean up if your pet leaves any mess.

During Willie’s visit to Bagaluru Lake, the area had yet to undergo extensive commercialization, offering ample open space for him to frolic and enjoy with sticks in hand.

Once on the brink of extinction, Bagaluru Lake has experienced a revival, thanks to the infusion of treated water from the city. Today, it stands as a testament to the positive impact of environmental conservation efforts.

Tippagondanahalli (TG Halli) Reservoir: A Pet-Friendly Oasis

Look no further than the Kanva or Tippagondanahalli Reservoir for a fantastic outing with your pet. This man-made reservoir graces the confluence of the Arkavathy and Kumudavathi Rivers, offering a picturesque setting for a late afternoon or evening picnic.

A friendly reminder: Check with the locals regarding swimming permissions. Due to its reservoir nature, only specific areas, like puddles formed away from water usage, are designated for swimming. Additionally, ensure your pet is comfortable in the water before allowing it to swim independently.

During Willie’s visit, he experienced his first puddle swim, revelling in playful moments of digging and discovering sticks and stones around the reservoir. Tippagondanahalli Reservoir was the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable one-day trip from Bangalore.

While at the reservoir, don’t miss the opportunity to visit the iconic Big Banyan tree or Dodda Alada Mara on your journey back.

Srirangapatna: A Tranquil Haven on the Road to Mysore

Nestled on the route from Bangalore to Mysore, Srirangapatna is a charming town adorned with expansive farms and open spaces, creating a delightful backdrop for a road trip with your beloved fur companion. Covering a distance of approximately 135 kilometres, the journey from Bangalore to Srirangapatna takes around 3 hours and 10 minutes by car.

A friendly reminder: Exercise patience if your pet experiences motion sickness or feels anxious during car rides. Gradually acclimate your pet to road trips by starting with shorter distances and increasing the journey length. During extended drives, take regular breaks for your pet’s comfort.

Willie, too, embarked on a car journey to Srirangapatna, overcoming his initial motion sickness hurdles. While he initially felt stressed amidst city traffic, the transition to the highway brought him a sense of ease. Visiting my aunt’s house provided him with a familiar and relaxing environment, steering him away from the usual hotel or resort stay for the night.

Closing Notes

Finding pet-friendly spaces in Bangalore can be challenging, but there are sanctuaries where responsible pet owners can relish their travels with their furry companions. One such haven is Cubbon Park in Bangalore, where the freedom to explore is not just for humans but extends warmly to pets. Notably, the emergence of pet clubs within the park has added a vibrant layer to the pet-friendly culture.

These pet clubs act as communal hubs, uniting individuals who share a common love for their pets. Here, like-minded pet owners gather for enjoyable outings, fostering a sense of camaraderie among both pets and humans. The organized gatherings include engaging exercise sessions, creating an atmosphere where pets can frolic and socialize freely.
